Until the 1950s, Kyoto was so called “Japanese Hollywood,” where various Samurai movies were filmed including the masterpiece by Mr. Akira Kurosawa. Though the number of films made here have decreased, this facility is still used for movie shooting and various attractions, to say a sort of “Universal Studios” in the modern Japanese style today. To approach this area, you can enjoy riding on a nearly century old local street car.
